Financing Engagement

To assist corporate clients in achieving sustainability development goals, the Bank of Taiwan has established a corporate client engagement process that leverage financial expertise to guide credit clients toward sustainable transformation. By the end of 2024, a total of 899 clients in industries with high climate transition risks had reached preliminary engagement, representing approximately 87.5% of all clients in such industries.

Achieved, as of the end of December 2024, the Bank had 1,027 customers in the top ten industries with high climate transition risk. After continuous customer engagement using measures including sustainability statement, ESG checklist, and sustainability-linked loans, 87.5% of these customers have completed engagement in 2024.

Note 1: The Bank of Taiwan, through the TCFD project, inventoried and identified climate-related risks, recognizing the top ten industries with high climate transition risk as electronics, power supply, petrochemical fuel, chemical materials manufacturing, cement, steel, aluminum, construction, automotive manufacturing, and aviation.

Note 2: Engagement refers to "stakeholder engagement" as defined by the FSC's First Movers Coalition. Recognition of engagement includes holding ESG engagement meetings, attending shareholders’ meetings or earnings call of investee/financed companies, receiving thank-you letters from investee/financed companies, public acknowledgment by investee/financed companies, carbon reduction commitments in loan contracts, correspondence with investee/financed companies, distributing questionnaires, and conducting engagement during lectures or training sessions at investee/financed companies.
