Charity at Bank of Taiwan

社會參與 社會參與

To fulfill its social responsibility, Bank of Taiwan (BOT) organizes various charity activities and has established a Social Welfare Foundation to care about disadvantaged people and create a better society.

Charitable Donations to Social Welfare Organizations

As a member of society, BOT has continually provided resources and assistance to social welfare organizations. In 2023, it made continual charitable donations to social welfare organizations to benefit disadvantaged groups and create a better society.

  • An earthquake of 7.8 magnitude hit the southern region of Turkey. In the spirit of humanitarian aid and in response to the joint donation activity launched by the Ministry of Finance, BOT donated a total of NT$2 million to Turkey, aiming to provide necessary daily supplies and materials for residents in earthquake-stricken areas to help with relief efforts.
  • BOT donated to the 2023 Elderly Care Equipment Subsidy Program launched by the Hualien County Private Shengyuan Nursing Home for the Elderly, Catholic Hualien Diocese.
  • BOT donated to the 2023 Auxiliary Equipment Subsidy Program launched by the Dann Centre for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
  • BOT donated to the 2023 Facility and Equipment Subsidy Program launched by Taipei Happy Mount Colony for People with Disabilities in New Taipei City.
  • BOT donated to the 2023 Tzih Huai Children Living Equipment Subsidy Program launched by the Tzih Huai Social Welfare Foundation.

  • Praise for Blood Drive Efforts

BOT continually leverages its social influence to help mitigate the short supply of blood. It has annually held blood donation activities in recent years to keep blood stocks at a safe level. In 2023, BOT held three blood drives at the Hsingsing Branch from January 17 to January 19, and at the head office on March 17 and October 27. These drives collected 449,000cc of blood (1,796 blood bags), effectively mitigating the demand for blood for medical purposes. On April 19, 2023, BOT was praised by the Taipei Blood Center, Taiwan Blood Service Foundation, for its efforts in collecting blood in 2022.

Handheld Lanterns at the Lantern Festival to Warm the General Public and Charities

The Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, designed "Rabbit" handheld lanterns for the Taiwan Lantern Festival in 2023. Combining the Year of the Rabbit and traditional lucky words, these lanterns were a highlight at the festival. BOT purchased them for the festival. In addition to providing lanterns to people attending the festival, BOT also gave them to charities to show its care to the general public and disadvantaged communities, and help promote tourism in Taiwan.
