Bank of Taiwan, guided by its vision of "building a leading Bank of Taiwan and deploying a global market," continues to expand its overseas presence. It is the only Taiwanese bank with operations on all five continents, with an overseas network comprising 11 branches, 2 sub-branches, and 10 representative offices. Through its strategic global deployment, Bank of Taiwan actively expands its diverse customer base, deepens cooperation with international financial institutions, and offers competitive integrated financial services.
Since Chairman Jong Yuan Ling took office, she has conducted on-site visits to numerous overseas locations, engaging with key local financial peers, gaining insights into market characteristics, and seeking opportunities for cooperation. She actively promotes overseas expansion, emphasizing that as Taiwanese industries accelerate their global deployments, banks must advance in coordination by offering comprehensive financial support.
Taiwan and Japan are important trade partners with close commercial cooperation. In response to TSMC’s Kumamoto plant driving the entry of the Taiwanese and Japanese semiconductor supply chain into Kyushu, Fukuoka, with its advantages as an economic center and transportation hub, has become the preferred location for corporate deployment. Recognizing this trend, Bank of Taiwan established a representative office in Fukuoka last year (2024) and has formally upgraded it to a sub-branch this year. It aims to leverage its financial strength and professional team to provide diverse, flexible, and in-depth financial services to Taiwanese enterprises and local companies in Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and across Kyushu, thus enhancing Bank of Taiwan’s service capacity in Western Japan.
Since establishing its Tokyo Branch in 1995, Bank of Taiwan has cultivated the Japanese market for 30 years, achieving steady business growth and establishing solid cooperative relationships with local financial institutions. Moving forward, Bank of Taiwan will leverage resources from the head office, the operational foundation of its Tokyo Branch, and the establishment of the Fukuoka Sub-branch, to become an important bridge between the Taiwanese and Japanese financial and technology industries, upholding to its mission as a state-owned bank. It will continue to actively support Taiwanese companies in expanding into the global market, devotedly serve both Taiwanese and Japanese enterprises, and usher in a new era of Taiwanese-Japanese financial cooperation.
