2025/09/22

Bank of Taiwan (BOT) joined forces with eight major government-owned financial institutions to participate in the “2025 4th SDG Asia” from September 11 to 13. Under the theme, “Government-owned Institutions Spearhead Sustainability Initiatives,” the institutions showcased their achievements in sustainable financial services. BOT received one Gold Award and two Silver Awards at the 2025 5th Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) for its three initiatives: “Protecting People with Dementia, Care Trust by Your Side,” “Greening Corporate Progress Toward Net-Zero Emissions,” and “Arts Festival Bank of Taiwan ”.

In promoting social inclusion, BOT has trained nearly 300 employees as “Dementia-Friendly Angels.” Over 100 branches have also been certified as “Dementia-Friendly Organizations.” Furthermore, the bank actively promotes elderly care trust services through diverse channels. As of late 2024, elderly care trusts had benefited 26,460 individuals, with principal assets exceeding NT$17.1 billion. These figures highlight the bank’s achievements in supporting senior citizens and disadvantaged groups. In terms of environmental sustainability, BOT has not only implemented a comprehensive ESG risk assessment and corporate engagement framework but also pledged to cease providing new project financing for coal mining and the construction of coal-fired power plants. Furthermore, BOT is expanding financing restrictions on the coal and unconventional oil and gas sectors and is also offering a “NetZero Transition Diagnosis” service to assist businesses in identifying climate risks.

BOT supports cultural sustainability through its actions. Since 2017, it has vigorously promoted arts development, successfully embedding aesthetics and sustainability into its corporate culture and reaching a significant milestone in its efforts. BOT received a Gold Award for SDG3 and Silver Awards for SDG7 and SDG8 at the TSAA, a testament to its accomplishments in sustainability.
