Continuing its efforts in digital transformation and financial innovation, Bank of Taiwan recently upgraded its "Bank of Taiwan Mobile+" app. Key enhancements include expanding mobile FIDO authentication to support Apple Pay card enrollment and in-app identity verification services. Officially launched on May 20, 2025, these new features position Bank of Taiwan as the first domestic bank to offer a fully integrated mobile banking app with comprehensive card enrollment and authentication functions, significantly optimizing the user experience in the digital realm.
The key highlight of this upgrade is the evolution of the Bank’s credit card digital services. Bank of Taiwan is one of the few domestic banks adopting a delegated authorization model for credit card issuance. In the field of international mobile payments, Apple Pay involves a relatively high technical barrier. In a breakthrough collaboration with the Financial Information Service Co., Ltd. (FISC), the Bank has upgraded its systems and restructured its processes based on existing infrastructure. The Bank now officially offers services compliant with global standards for mobile payment technologies and has successfully established a representative innovative model, setting a precedent among domestic issuers of similar credit cards.
Bank of Taiwan stated: This service upgrade marks a new chapter in the evolution of credit card digitization, equipping the Bank with mobile payment capabilities comparable to those of major issuers. It also sets a new benchmark for the diversification and modernization of Taiwan’s credit card issuance system. This achievement highlights the Bank’s strong execution and innovation in digital finance, providing users a more convenient and secure mobile payment experience. The Bank aims to further deepen cooperation with industry partners to jointly create a safer, more convenient, and more diverse payment ecosystem.
As a representative financial institution in Taiwan, Bank of Taiwan will continue to uphold the principle of prudent innovation and remain dedicated to delivering comprehensive digital financial services.
