On December 8, 2024, the Department of Labor, Taipei City Government, hosted the 2024 Taipei City Workplace Gender Equality Certification award event on 1F of Taipei City Hall. The Bank of Taiwan (BOT) took part in the certification for the first time this year with the theme of “Gender Friendly and Sustainable BOT”, and immediately won the top gold award. The award was accepted by BOT Senior Executive Vice President Tai Shih-Yuan on behalf of the bank.
To provide employees with the best possible care, BOT offers unpaid leave, shorter work hours, flexible working hours as well as pregnancy-friendly leave types including maternity leave, maternity exam leave, and paternity leave to help employees maintain work-life balance; mental, work and management counseling are also provided through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to enhance the physical and mental well-being of employees, and help them recover from psychological issues so they can return to the workplace.
To prevent sexual harassment, BOT is continuing to organize related training courses and feedback mechanisms. These raise employee awareness on sexual harassment prevention and place greater responsibility for prevention on managers. Channels for reporting sexual harassment have been set up as well. To promote gender equality, gender cinema, charity carnivals, and reading clubs were organized to incorporate gender equality concepts into the everyday life of employees.
BOT efforts to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and embrace the “gender equality” philosophy of sustainable development goals led to the gold award from the certification program. The award recognizes the proactive efforts made by BOT on building a gender-friendly workplace. BOT will continue to uphold its “people-centric” sustainability policy by optimizing employee care in terms of working conditions, salaries, and benefits. The implementation of sustainable finance and cultivation of a people-oriented workplace will take ESG at BOT to the next level.
