Investment fraud often accounts for a large number of fraud cases, causing huge financial losses to many families, and an unbearable blow to victims. From relevant news reports, it is evident that many of such fraud cases are related to social media platforms that does not require real-name use. Criminals will take the opportunity to market financial products on such social media, websites or platforms, or set up investment experience exchange groups for running scams.
Without real-name use, it is difficult for the public to verify the authenticity of the information. In view of this, to prevent our customers and members the public from falling prey to false information, and to maintain our reputation, the Bank of Taiwan (the Bank) has decided to take the following measures starting from today to December 31, 2025:
- The Bank will suspend any advertisement and business marketing campaign on social networking sites, platforms, and accounts that do not require real-name use.
- The Bank will suspend sponsorship of streamers, moderators, internet celebrities, hosts and other members who do not use social networking sites and platforms with real names when engaging in advertising and business promotion activities.
- Only information and business-related activities disclosed on the Bank's official website, accounts, and platform are deemed true and accurate. The public is advised to check the authenticity of any other information related to the Bank to avoid being scammed.
The Bank works to adhere to the business philosophy of integrity in providing various financial services and proactively implements various financial fraud prevention measures.
