Bank of Taiwan (BOT) held its third blood donation event on September 20, 2024, at the Headquarter building, the entrance of Far Eastern Department Stores Hualien Store, and the BOT Tainan Branch. BankTaiwan Insurance Brokers Co., Ltd. actively participated in the event and encouraged colleagues, customers, and the public across Taiwan to join the cause. The aim was to support public health initiatives, contribute to social healthcare services, ensure an ample blood bank reserve, provide blood whenever needed, and simultaneously promote public health and social welfare.
BOT has been advocating for blood donation and organizing donation events every year since 2019. It was recognized as an exceptional corporate blood donor by the Taipei Blood Center under the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation for many consecutive years. The hot weather in recent years has drove the shortfall of blood donations across Taiwan, contributing to a continuous blood shortage. Thus BOT organized a blood donation campaign in early autumn, which successfully collected 1,074 bags of blood. BOT has organized a total of 3 blood donation activities this year, collected a total of 2,097 bags with over 524,000cc of blood to support the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation.
For the third donation event, BOT collaborated with the Taipei and Tainan Blood Centers and the Hualien Blood Donation Station to establish service stations at designated locations. During the event, the Taipei Blood Center even introduced an electric bloodmobile instead of a traditional gasoline vehicle, to provide a more comfortable environment for the public participating in the event. Meanwhile, this setup significantly reduced carbon emissions in public service initiatives, actively embodying the principles of a sustainable environment and making a maximum contribution to preserving the earth while advancing public welfare.
BOT has been actively excerting it's financial influence to promote the humanities and arts, academic research, environmental protection, sports development, support vulnerable groups, and contribute to the UN's sustainable development goals. Through various public benefit activities, the BOT is dedicated to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, spreading love and care, and contributing to sustainable development and public health.
