The Bank of Taiwan recently hosted its 2024 Employee of the Year Awards. The award ceremony opened with a philharmonic orchestra performance followed by Chairman Lyu Jye-Cherng presenting 56 exceptional employees from the head and branch offices with award plaques recognizing their outstanding contributions in their work. Chairman Lyu also hoped that they can share their enthusiasm for service with all other employees.
During his speech, Chairman Lyu stated that 125 years have passed since the bank was first established in 1899 as the Bank of Taiwan Kabushiki-gaisha. BOT owes all of its accomplishments so far to every employee working diligently day in and day out over the years. The culture at BOT, in particular, has undergone a tremendous transformation over the past seven years. The change is not only reflected in the bank’s strong business performance but also in the mindset of the staff implementing the bank’s strategies. BOT has focused its attention on supporting the global expansion of Taiwanese businesses in recent years. By becoming the hub of national finance and the supporter of economic development, we demonstrated to everyone our ability to balance our government, corporate finance, and consumer finance businesses. The three aspects of our business are mutually supporting as well making BOT the only bank in Taiwan with a “Troika” business strategy. The successful transformation of BOT was made possible by everyone standing by their posts and working together as a team. Every employee here today demonstrates outstanding performance in their field and serves as a role model for their colleagues. They have earned their own personal moment of glory.
BOT management and employees have been working together to strengthen asset and liability management, improve fund utilization, optimize the configuration of financial resources, and promote organizational revitalization. For employee training and care, we continued to cultivate professional managers that possess the qualities of international perspective, dependability, vision, innovation agility and teamwork. Particular emphasis was also placed on the cultivation of a digital transformation cadre. At the same time, continued improvements to working conditions and employee benefits fostered a positive, friendly workplace that respects human rights. We provide employees with common childcare services and won the “Excellent Award” in the Workplace Mutual Aid Childcare Service Center category of the 2023 “Public Sector Workplace Childcare Facility Assessment,” thanks to our “people-centric” business philosophy.
Quality talent is essential to the sustainable and robust development of BOT. Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance was recently commissioned to recruit more outside talent from diverse backgrounds. We plan to offer 400 places (291 formal places, 109 waiting list places) in 26 categories, including general finance, information technology, cyber security, international finance, digital finance, economic research, trust, collections, electro-mechanical, architecture, environmental management, customer services, and procurement personnel. Starting salaries range from 38K to 59K, depending on the job category. Applications are online-only and open from now through to June 5. BOT invites talented people from each field to register and sit for the exam to join the national team for finance.
