Bank of Taiwan Receives“2023 Taiwan i sports”Certification

Recognizing the importance of promoting sports and cultivating a sustainable culture of exercise and health within the workplace, the Sports Administration, Ministry of Education, held the“2023 Taiwan i sports”certification ceremony on October 31, 2023, at the Convention room of the Howard Civil Service International House. Bank of Taiwan (BOT) was proud to be one of the recipients, demonstrating BOT’s dedication to employee well-being, efforts in establishing a supportive sports environment, and exemplary contributions to the advancement of sports activities.

BOT encourages employees to engage in sports and sports clubs through the Sports Committee, which oversees 12 teams, including basketball , mountain climbing, tennis, badminton, table tennis, softball, etc. BOT also supports employees in forming their own recreational clubs and hires dedicated nurses to take care of employee health, creating a sports-friendly workplace. Moreover, BOT is dedicated to promoting sports and leisure activities by participating the Financial Cup Tennis Championship by the Bankers Association of the Republic of China, organizing competitions to facilitate friendly exchanges and networking with industry peers, helping to promote a culture of sportsmanship.

BOT is proactively cultivating sporting talents, as demonstrated by its 50-year-old basketball team since 1973, which has been a prolific source of outstanding basketball athletes for the Taiwanese basketball realm. It holds the distinction of being the inaugural team of the SBL and secured the championship in the 19th season. Since 1996, except for the hiatus in 2021 due to COVID-19, free“Youth Basketball Summer Camp”has been held every summer, nurturing a multitude of young basketball enthusiasts. During the offseason, players went to rural schools across Taiwan to train students, fostering a love for basketball through enjoyable educational experiences.

With Chairman Jye-Cherng Lyu at the helm, BOT takes a proactive role in various sports events. For example, the bank has generously sponsored the“CPBL All-Star Game”many times, inviting employees and school-level athletes to enjoy the games, combining competitive excitement with charitable giving by donating Golden Passbooks books to social welfare organizations during the matches. BOT is steadfast in its commitment to promote sports in Taiwan and has received the prestigious“Sports Promoter Award – Promotion Category”from the Sports Administration, Ministry of Education for 5 consecutive years. Looking ahead, BOT will continue to leverage its brand resources to boost sports, inspire community engagement, support rural areas, and help disadvantaged communities. This aligns with the United Nations’Sustainable Development Goals, and the shared objective of fostering social harmony and achieving the long-term sustainability of both the bank and Taiwan.
